Papers : of the Yancey family, 1791-1868.

The papers contain correspondence among family members, including one who moved to Tennessee and writes about conditions there in 1846. There are several deeds, 1791-1811, for Culpeper County, Va. land, an 1848 will, an 1824 doctor's bill against an estate, a slave bill of sale, 1855, some accounts, 1858, from the store of Thomas S. Alcocke, Culpeper, Va., and a genealogy of the the descendants of Thomas Yancey. The collection also contains a requisition, 1862, from G.V. Young, quartermaster of the 2nd division Tennessee Volunteers, and includes requests from Robert C. Tyler and Preston Smith.
